Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s revolutionary outlook is based on the spirit of “let fate run its course and follow the will of people” in the Book of Changes. Nevertheless, he made an attempt to surpass the Tang and Wu Revolts, replacing autocratic monarchy with democratic politics. He further promoted his personal political ideals and adhered to the career attitude of “cautious and diligent all day long” and “cultivate moral character of honesty” to construct a new democratic society from a classic concept. For the politicians who attempted to restore the monarchy, he directly exposed their sanctimonious words and advised them to turn from their evil ways using words in the Book of Changes. This paper started off with The Tang and Wu Revolts repeatedly mentioned by Dr. Sun Yat-sen; China’s revolutionary outlook since the ancient times and Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s inheritance and transformation were first explored. The connotation of Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s revolutionary spirit was further discussed to distinguish the attitude of politician based on The Book of Changes. Through a comparison of Dr. Sun Yat-sen and Hong Xiuquan’s revolutionary deeds, the importance of post-revolution construction was distinguished. Differences in the political attitudes of the revolutionary leaders and how they affected post-revolutionary development were also identified. Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s implementation of “let fate run its course and follow the will of people” in the revolution and construction of Three Principles of the People was investigated.
