To General Homer LeaSept. 29, 1910 PenangMy dear General:Your letter of August 7, to Hong Kong, is in receipt. Hereafterdo not send any letter to the Hong Kong address, but direct to here.In regard to Mr. B's appointment as financial agent, if the pro-ject could not succeed the same have to be recalled, as I was askedto return the signature in that case.I want you to go on the other plan we spoke about and try tosecure some money for us as quick as possible. Under the presentcircumstances I think a quarter million of gold dollars will be quiteenough for the whole thing, even less than that may enable us todo some wonderful work.Since I returned to the Far East I always try to stop prematuremovement in every part of China, on condition that I will supplythe money in winter. If this condition could not be fulfilled it willbe a great blow to my influence. I hope you would urge Mr. B. tosend me the sum I asked in a former letter from his account. Bythis my influence could be saved from discredit. If he can do a lit-tle more the whole thing can be carried out to a successful issue.I am now waiting for your introduction to go to Manila. Didyou send it already? I have written you to ask for it quite a longtime ago. I didn't think I can spare to come over to the United Statesagain at present for everything in here are so unsettled. And I amfear I shall be unable to stop the uprising in the coming winter, although I still try in that direction, on account of want of money. If this winter movement can be postponed I will come over fromManila in the end of this year.
