The success of the 1911 Revolution ended the two thousand years of feudal monarchy in China. The revolution also established the first democratic republic nation in Asia. Dr. Sun Yat-sen (孫中山, 1866-1925), the founder of the Republic China, set up the founding base in Hong Kong and vigorously engaged in revolutionary activities. This paper investigates the close relationship through four general directions. Firstly, this paper analyzes the formation of unique political environment after the ceded of Hong Kong and provided the background for Hong Kong to be the source of modern Chinese revolutionary movements. Secondly, this paper overviews Dr. Sun Yat-sen's revolutionary ideology and the power came from Hong Kong. Thirdly, this paper describes the armed anti-riots in South China before the 1911 Revolution, and most of them used Hong Kong as their outposts. Last but not least, this paper points out the three kinds of people from Hong Kong that supported Dr. Sun Yat-sen's revolutionary activities and the establishment of the Republic of China.
