The trait of E-Era is an era of pursing excellence and efficiency . In this changing society, high-tech has become the mainstream of people's lifestyle. It is not only influencing people's relations directly, but also dominating the main value of today's society.
In the E-Era's society, the family system has rapidly changed. Single parent families are increasing exceedingly. Therefore, many children and juveniles can't receive normal family education, causing their behavior astray. Finally, juvenile delinquent becomes a serious social problem.
Recently, there are several big cases about family tragedies. For examples: children have killed their parents, and a grandson has killed his grandmother.
The reason for these tragedies is that moral education has been neglected in school education for a longtime. Therefore, public morality is not what it used to be. Family system is dissolved acceleratively.
How to guide people following the right way, and find out the root of human nature? The basic and effective way is to rebuild family ethics. In order to rebuild family ethics and effectively fulfill in family and daily life, education will be the most important issue.
Dr. Sun Yat-Sen's ideology, emphasizing on family ethics, has been proved a far-sighted teaching. His ethics thought contains the rules of morality: 1. "Politeness, Righteousness, Uprightness, and Shame." It is called SZU-WEI, the four ethical principles. 2. "Loyalty and Filial Piety, Humanity and Charity, Faithfulness and Justice, and Peace." It is called PA-TE, the eight cardinal virtues. 3. "Wisdom, Benevolence, and Courage." It is called SAN-TA-TE, the three virtues.
All above are not only the fundamental spirit of Chinese traditional culture, but also are the major elements of personal cultivation.
Dr. Sun Yat-Sen’s ideal moral world is a great harmonious society of freedom, equality, and fraternity. The writer firmly believes this is also the same ideal world for E-Era’s moral education for modern educators to accomplish.
